The World needs light, more than electricity
Over 1.5 billion people worldwide have no access to electricity and therefore lighting. People without access to artificial light also have no change to wrestle their way from poverty. Because lighting affords people extra time to devote to education, work, housekeeping and social activities. Large, populous parts of the world are still without access to reliable electricity, requiring inhabitants to use alternatives such as kerosene lamps and open fire. As a light source these are expensive, dangerous, inefficient, supply very little light and are very detrimental to human health.
Pharox Lite, lighting anywhere
Lemnis Lighting introduces Pharox Lite, a range of affordable, ultra-energy efficient lamp systems for use in areas lacking an electricity infrastructure. During the daytime, an integrated solar panel and battery store enough energy to light the lamp for up to 4 hours at night. Pharox Lite lamps are safe, reliable and save their users time (collecting timber), money (buying fuel) and reduce the risk of fire and respiratory diseases. This freed up time can then be used to further improve living conditions. The Pharox Lite product range includes models for personal use, fixed installation and public lighting.
Fighting poverty together
It’s ironic that the people who have the most to benefit from Pharox Lite, are the least able to afford one. For this reason, Lemnis Lighting explicitly looks for partnering opportunities with governments, international and local parties for manufacturing and distribution Pharox Lite in their territory. This helps reduce cost, creates jobs and gives an impulse to the local economy.
Women lead the way from poverty
Research shows that artificial lighting is especially beneficial to girls and women. It means that they don’t have to spend as much time looking for fuel and can leave some in-house tasks for after dark, instead of having to perform them during daytime. This gives them the opportunity to spend time during the day on education or on earning money.
