Lemnis Greenhouse lighting

Lemnis Greenhouse lighting

Greenhouse farming is one of the engines that powers the Dutch economy. It employs more than 100,000 people, working in production (40.000) and in the associated industrial and trade suppliers departments. 75-80% of this production is exported resulting in annual revenues of €5 to €6 billion. However, this comes at a high cost to the farmers, the environment and residents in surrounding areas.

The main light source used to date is based on high pressure sodium which is old technology. With these lamps, 100 W of energy is used per square meter as compared against 20 W with Lemnis light source. In addition sodium lamps have to be replaced every 10 000 hours whereas the Lemnis light sources lasts for 50 000 hours.

With its expert knowledge in LED lighting, Lemnis has developed a revolutionary concept that resulting in the same plant growth compared to conventional solutions, yet with only 25% of the energy consumption. Furthermore, with its long lifetime, LEDs reduce maintenance cost. This innovation in greenhouse lighting is the perfect response to the demands of the sector, society and the government.
